Indianapolis, IND, January 29, 2020 – PERQ, a marketing technology company, announces that its multifamily software is now accessible by those with disabilities. PERQ recently met all of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level A and AA through WebAIM, an independent authority in web accessibility. The certification confirms that PERQ’s multifamily software can be easily reached, entered, and navigated by people with disabilities, including visual, motor, auditory or cognitive.
“About 13 percent of people in the United States live with some sort of disability. Making sure that we can provide them with the same user experience as those without is incredibly important,” said Curt Knapp, PERQ Executive Vice President of Technology. “While this wasn’t a small project, we felt extremely passionate about investing our resources into making this happen. It was the right thing to do.”
PERQ spent more than six months working to make its software meet Level A and AA guidelines. The company needed to update code structure, redesign experiences and improve usability for a variety of devices. PERQ’s largest undertaking was making sure anyone with a disability could use a keyboard to access everything on a website easily, just like they could by clicking a mouse.
“I hope we will start to see a growing trend toward website accessibility in the multifamily industry,” said Knapp. “Properties have taken numerous steps to make sure they are providing an inclusive experience for all people in their physical communities. It makes sense to offer that same inclusivity on property websites and PERQ is proud to be leading the way to make this happen.”
